PETALICIOUS CUFF with Melanie Potter

Thursday, May 3, 2012 - 10 am to 4 pm

Melanie calls this bracelet graceful. Talk about understatement!

The Petalicious Cuff is a lavish bracelet swathe with small petals that boldly showcases a large flower. The hour-glass shaped cuff base is stitched with chevron chain and is opulently embellished with small petals in two colors of seed beads across the entire surface of the band. These 2 colors have the effect of adding contrast and depth to the band.

The center of the cuff is rendered with an elaborate flower that floats on a round platform stitched in circular chevron. The center of the flower sports a deep-set faceted Swarovski stone embellished with fringing that serves as the focal point of the bracelet.

Student must be very comfortable with peyote and right angle weave stitches.

The fee for this workshop is $90.00 and can be combined with any other (or both) of Melanie's workshops over this weekend for additional discounts.

Band of JewelsBAND OF JEWELS with Melanie Potter

Friday, May 4, 2012 - 10 am to 4 pm

This bracelet features an open-work channel at the center of the bad where the bezels sit. Its intense sparkle comes from the faceted crystals and 2mm beads on each bezel. Because of the rapid increase between herringbone stitches the bezels sit high and suggestive of the traditional diamond setting for and engagement ring. The closure is a loop which utlizes one of the bezeled stones to connect.

Student must be comfortable with right angle weave, chevron chain, herringbone stitch and peyote stitch.

The fee for this workshop is $90.00 and can be combined with any other (or both) of Melanie's workshops over this weekend for additional discounts.

Pining for YouPINING OVER YOU with Melanie Potter

Saturday, May 5, 2012 - 10 am to 4 pm

This piece is inspired by the Bulgarian Fire cone which has a slender, elongated body with delicate scales giving it a very elegant appearance.

Pining Over You is a lariat and earring set. This pine cone is a three-dimensional structure created in seed beads using peyote and chevron chain stitches. It has a bezeled jewel at the tip in charlottes and seed beads. The lariat neck strap is swathe in pointed needles created using chevron chain stitch in seed beads and magatamas.

The opposite end of the lariat features a pine cone tassel with fringe ending with tiny deep-set jewels bezeled in seed beads and charlottes.

The earrings use the same techniques as the lariat in a diminutive size with rolo chain attaching them to an ear wire.

Students must be comfortable with chevron chain, tubular and circular peyote.

The fee for this workshop is $90.00 and can be combined with any other (or both) of Melanie's workshops over this weekend for additional discounts.
